Is it just the hype or is Fried Egg I'm In Love actually good?
The amount of sandwiches you can find and indulge in around the Portland area is nuts. Every street you can find a hidden gem, but in Oregon, Fried Egg I'm In Love has made a huge name for themselves and it's not just for show!
We've walked by their stores/foods pods numerous times and finally caved in to give them a try. WOW. Taking one good look at the sandwich you order is enough to make your tummy growl.. The first bite?? Tummy happy. We had our doubts coming in as people were hyping them up (still are in 2023), but we are so damn happy that we gave them a go!
Our recommendations are the Yolko Ono and Huevo Mutilation, you simply can't go wrong with either of these selections. Let's start with Yolko Ono, amazing pesto sauce that pairs perfectly with the sausage patty and let's not forget the cheese and egg!! Eggs are cooked perfectly, and we would hope so if you're dawning the name Fried Egg I'm In Love! Now (our) personal favorite is the Huevo Mutilation. We choose bacon (or Canadian bacon) as our choice of protein for this umami blast of a sandwich. But what's in it you say?? Caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, and their holy aioli. Yes that holy aioli deserves a following on it's own. PRAY TO THE AIOLI.
At the end of the day, whether it be breakfast, lunch, or early dinner, you simply can't go wrong with their sandwiches! If you're a big eater though, order two. Just take our advice *wink wink
